How to limit the number of answers selected by respondents in your multiple choice questions

How to ensure your respondents select limited answer options to your question!

You can now limit the number of answer options your respondent selects when answering a multiple choice question, drop down or a grid question that allows for multiple selection.

  1. Open the question settings by clicking on the question number or the settings button shown below:
  2. Toggle the multiple selection on as shown below.
  3. Next, toggle the limit answer selection
  4. You can choose up to a maximum of 5 selections using the dropdown menu.

Keep the following in mind when using this feature!

  1. If you do not specify the number of answer options you are limiting your respondents to, the system will automatically limit respondents to selecting a maximum of 3 answer options.
  2. Respondents are asked to select a maximum of 2 to 5 responses, but if they have selected less than the maximum, this is still considered a valid response.
  3. Once you have enabled this feature to your question, when applicable, make sure that you have an answer option for "None of the above" or something similar, and that you ensure this answer option is an exclusive answer option! See what an exclusive answer option is and how to set one here.
