Who are respondents that comprise of "Others"?
On surveys run in Malaysia on our Vase Insights platform (VIP), all races are captured and categorised into four main categories (Malay, Chinese, Non-Malay Bumiputera and Indian / Others) as seen below.
The classification of ‘others’ is a category of respondents that do not fit within the other race categories. In order to find out who they are, you may use the steps shown below:
- Export the raw data from your survey dashboard
- Refer to the column showing “Race” in your raw data (it is typically the fourth column of the raw data file)
- Use the filter option in Excel to know more about the race of your respondents!
- Click the Sort & Filter button and select Filter.
- Click on the arrow of choice for the filter you need
- An example is shown below of some of the races that are grouped under “Others” or Non-Malay Bumiputera in the raw data file.
- If you would like to disable this feature on Excel, refer to step 4 and unclick ‘Filter’.
